Chief Eddy Obinna is from Umunneato Autonomous community, Nguru in Aboh Mbaise local government area of Imo state.

Chief Eddy Obinna worked for a while at Chevron Nigeria from where he went into private business. He was the Chief Executive Officer of Melnice Nigeria Limited. Chief Eddy Obinna is a renowned philanthropist.

His foundation has provided scholarships up to the university level to several indigent students from Aboh Mbaise. It has also provided capital for entrepreneurial ventures for selected but capable young men and women of Aboh Mbaise to start small Scale business. The provision of free medical services to registered widows, elderly as well as the youth in communities within Aboh Mbaise has remained a truism and something to be fully proud of.

His Philanthropy and generosity endeared him to his immediate Umunneato Autonomous Community where he was bestowed the honour of a special chieftaincy title “Enyi Kwo Nwa Na Azu. Chief Eddy Obinna candour and dexterity in settling, resolving disputes and reconciling opposing factors in families and communities within Aboh Mbaise earned him another well-deserved chieftaincy title of “Ocho Udo Madu Ibeya”.

Chief Eddy Obinna has his hands in many stakes. He is a member of All Progressive Congress (APC), representing Aboh Mbaise State Constituency in the Imo State House of Assembly and the Deputy Chief Whip.

Hon. Eddy Obinna is equally the House Committee Chairman for Transport. He is a well-known socialite belonging to numerous social clubs and community associations including but not exclusively the Dynamic Friends Club, Nguru Political Forum, Ezuruezu Mbaise etc. He is widely travelled and has international connections.

He is happily married to a very intelligent and resourceful Lolo Stella Eddy Obinna and blessed with children.
